Ajax winger Antony has revealed that he wants to play in England or Spain when he decides to leave his current club.
Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United have all been linked with the Brazilian international over the past week and, when asked about his future, the 21-year-old was pretty honest about his ambitions:
“Ajax is the place where I feel happy. But of course, I do think about a move in the future sometimes. Premier League and La Liga are the leagues I find beautiful. When the time is right, I hope to play there.”
In terms of Liverpool’s interest, the club’s recruitment department have been keeping tabs on Antony since his time at Sao Paulo. They have reportedly been very impressed with how he has adapted to European football following his move to Ajax just over eighteen months ago.
The winger generally plays off the right flank, cutting in onto his stronger left foot, which suggests he could well be targeted as a potential long-term replacement for Mo Salah.
The Egyptian’s future is still up in the air, with talks over a new contract having not progressed, so a move for Antony this summer cannot be ruled out. Previous reports have suggested that the Brazilian could cost €40m (£33m) but that figure may well increase due to his form and the interest being shown in him from other teams.
