Arsenal now look favourites to sign Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar, with the Gunners said to be preparing another bid for the France Under 21 international.
Earlier in the summer, it was reported that Manchester City had also registered their interest in the 22-year-old and fans on Twitter have been debating whether the club should make a formal offer for the midfielder:
Yes, he’s an upgrade on Gundogan.

We should
I mean we would miss a serious talent
Would be easy to get him cause he was already flirting with our club— CITYZEN PRATIK MAITY (@imbluemancunian) September 17, 2020
He’s class but idk if we need him, rather target a centre back.

Yes…Gundogan needs to be shown the door. Play with a trio of Bernardo-Houssem-KDB..the 3 can press and play the ball
forward really good. Plus it would add back the mobility City midfield had when Fernandinho was CDM.— Vvk (@vvk_blc) September 17, 2020
We should but it won’t ever happen sadly

Although manager Pep Guardiola is clearly a big fan of Aouar, the Frenchman is not a priority at the moment. The Manchester club have multiple options in the middle of the park so a bid for the Lyon star before deadline day looks unlikely.
It would be a surprise if the player does end up at the Emirates, though, considering Arsenal don’t even have Champions League football and it remains to be seen whether the Gunners can stump up the cash.
Aouar is reportedly valued at around €60m (£55m) by Lyon so there is still a possibility that he’ll remain at the Ligue One club beyond the end of the transfer window.
