Ex-Swansea striker Michu claims Erling Haaland will be leaving Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season.
There was said to be a chance that the Norwegian international could remain in Germany this summer but, after talking with the striker, Michu (who is a boyhood idol of Haaland’s) claims a move to Spain could be a possibility:
“I was with Haaland, I had a conversation with him and I think he is not going to continue at Dortmund. Haaland is looking for a very strong team that can compete in the Champions League. He is looking for a competitive team. He gave me the feeling that he was looking for a sports project for many years and he told me that he liked Spain. If Mbappe goes to Madrid, I think Barca would be a very good option.”
Crucially, Michu doesn’t mention anything about the possibility of Haaland moving to England, but that shouldn’t downhearten fans of interested teams such as Manchester City.
The fact that the 21-year-old is looking for a long-term project where he would be able to win the Champions League makes City a prime destination. Teams such as Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Chelsea can also not be ruled out.
For now, nothing has been decided but Michu’s comments do suggest that Haaland will be on the move when his €75m (£63m) release clause is activated this summer.
