Chelsea are 37th on the list whilst Arsenal are 47th, with the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham failing to make the top 50. The two top-ranking football teams were Real Madrid (6th) and Barcelona (8th).
Supporters on Twitter were delighted by how far City have come under the guidance of Sheikh Mansour’s Abu Dhabi group over the past twelve years:

Are they confusing team with club. Utd as a club are more valuable than City, but the idea that their team is more valuable than ours is nonsense. None of their players would get in our team. The value of their players decline after buying – pogba, mcguire, sanchez to name 3

Considering the Citizens were playing in the third tier at the beginning of this century, it really is a massive turnaround in the club’s fortunes and a remarkable achievement to be classed as one of the world’s most valuable sports teams.
With the club investing in its infrastructure, from academy level to feeder teams right across the globe, there is every likelihood that they’ll be moving higher up the list in the coming seasons.
