Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers has “verbally agreed” to become Manchester United’s next manager, according to CaughtOffside.com.

It is a bold claim from the website, who are not really known for their accuracy, but fans on Twitter have, nonetheless, reacted with disappointment to reports of Ole Gunner Solskjaer’s potential successor:

CaughOffside’s story should be taken with a very large pinch of salt, and it would be a surprise if United are already so far down the line in regards to hiring Rodgers.

The former Celtic and Liverpool boss has been able to implement an expansive playing style wherever he has been, but his shelf life is usually pretty short.

Rodgers lasted just over three years at Anfield before being sacked for poor results. He is now two and a half years into his reign at Leicester and the Foxes have also begun to go backwards under his management.

The Northern Irishman is, however, known for developing young players, in addition to having a specific footballing philosophy, so that may have attracted United to the idea of appointing him.
