Manchester United legend Roy Keane believes Manchester City and Chelsea are the likeliest to finish top of the table this season.

The Irishman says the latter’s capture of Romelu Lukaku could prove to be a game-changer, and he can’t see either United or Liverpool being able to compete unless they make some more additions before the transfer window closes:

“Lukaku, gives them a great chance. I know Liverpool have a lot of players coming back, but I would still be looking at City and Chelsea. Unless United or Liverpool pull something out of the bag in the next week or two with a few brilliant signings, but I can’t see beyond City or Chelsea. If Kane goes to Man City it’ll be very difficult to stop them.”

Keane clearly doesn’t think that the signings of Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho will be sufficient for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side to be crowned champions.

That is somewhat surprising, considering that the Red Devils finished second last campaign and have clearly strengthened their squad since then.

It seems there are still areas of the team that Keane is not completely happy with. In an interview with Gary Neville earlier this week, the pundit expressed his concerns over Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Fred, indicating that the right-back and central midfield positions are two other areas that need to be improved if United are going to compete for the title.
