Celtic’s victory against Lille in the Europa League last night could well kickstart the Scottish champions’ season, according to former Chelsea and England manager Glenn Hoddle.

The 3-2 win may have not meant much in terms of progress in the competition, with the Hoops having already been eliminated, but Hoddle believes the performance could be just what Neil Lennon‘s side need to get out of the rut they find themselves in:

“When you are not playing so well, you are on a terrible run that they had been on, you are waiting for one performance, for one result that can turn it around, and this could be it.”

Whether Hoddle is right, we will find out when Celtic face Kilmarnock at home on Sunday. There were some outstanding performances yesterday evening from the likes of Ismaila Soro and David Turnbull, who haven’t had a lot of game time this season.

They grabbed their chance with both hands and it will be interesting to see whether Lennon keeps faith with some of these players this weekend. They have shown they are good enough to play for the club after proving themselves in a victory against a prestigious European opponent.
