Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante is expected to be back in contention to play against Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday.
The Frenchman played in the UEFA Super Cup win against Villarreal despite picking up an ankle problem in the warm-up but he was left out of the squad for the 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace at the weekend as a precaution.
Hakim Ziyech also injured his shoulder in the Super Cup. The Moroccan international will not undergo surgery but he will still be out for a number of weeks. He is likely to be back in action after the next international break.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek was missing from the matchday squad on Saturday, and it later transpired that the 25-year-old had tested positive for the virus. He won’t be available to face the Gunners.
New signing Romelu Lukaku could, though, play some part. Manager Thomas Tuchel confirmed that the Belgian has finished quarantine and will be in training tomorrow, with the expectation that he’ll be in contention for the London derby.
