With Chelsea’s injury problems mounting up in midfield, supporters have been discussing the possibility of recalling Conor Gallagher and Billy Gilmour in the January transfer window.
Gallagher has impressed during his time with Crystal Palace, while Gilmour has been slowly finding his feet after a slow start to his loan spell at Norwich City.
Some fans on Twitter believe that both players would add depth to Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the second half of the season, while others doubt whether it is possible to bring them back:
Recall both and add Rice and Tchouameni while at it

Calling them back is not the solution to the current problems with Chelsea. The present squad are better than the two of them, we have that player with quality display. The problem is how we apply to create scoring chances for our strikers, some individuals mistakes cost us more

Or just sign Tchoumeni in January

Both would be even better since these current ones can’t stay fit.

Probably depends on if there is a clause in the deal or not
— Frede Arningbo (@Arningbo) December 4, 2021
Recall clauses are not generally common in season-long loans so we shall have to wait and see whether a return for the two players could happen next month.
It is more likely that Chelsea would delve into the transfer market for a new recruit. As a few supporters mentioned, the Blues have been heavily linked with Monaco’s Aurelien Tchouameni in recent weeksso a bid for the Frenchman may be an option the club are considering.
