The Blues have overseen a huge squad overhaul so far this summer with ten senior players already leaving on permanent deals.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side travel to the United States on Monday for their pre-season tour.
One of the players who may have been set to travel is Ampadu, who spent last season on loan at now Serie B side Spezia.
The Wales international is currently the club’s longest serving player but has made just 12 appearances for Chelsea since he joined from Exeter in 2017.
His time at Stamford Bridge, though, looks set to come to an end this summer after six years on the books.
As reported by The Athletic, Leeds have agreed a deal with Chelsea to sign Ampadu for £7million plus add-ons.
He will soon be set to undergo a medical at Elland Road, with it also being reported the deal comes with a sell-on clause.
Ampadu is primarily a centre-back but also has the ability to play in deep midfield role.
A move to Leeds, who will be playing in the Championship next season, could offer him the chance to revitalise his career.
His most recent appearance for Chelsea was in February 2019 when he came off the bench against Malmo in the Europa League.
Since then, he has gone on loan to RB Leipzig, Sheffield United, Venezia and Spezia.
Ampadu is therefore set to be the latest player to depart Stamford Bridge this summer as they work towards the new campaign.
