Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold could be overlooked for England once again when the squad for the European Championships is announced, according to the Daily Telegraph‘s Matt Law

The Reds fullback has been omitted from the squad for this month’s World Cup qualifiers and Law thinks that Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate will continue to favour Chelsea‘s Reece James in upcoming international breaks:

“Southgate sees Reece ahead of Trent now and I think there’s every chance that Trent won’t be in the squad for the Euros….Gareth really likes Reece.”

From a Liverpool perspective, it will be seen as good news. Alexander-Arnold could have the summer off and have the chance to recharge his batteries ahead of next season.

However, the player’s confidence may be knocked by being snubbed for England duty. While most Reds fans couldn’t care less about international fixtures, players do, and the fullback’s omission from the European Championship squad would be a blow.

Alexander-Arnold will be looking to prove Southgate and other critics wrong with his performances between now and the summer.
