Michael Owen is expecting Manchester City to progress to the FA Cup final when they take on Arsenal at Wembley tomorrow evening.

The BT Sport pundit says Pep Guardiola’s side will have too much for their opponents, who have struggled for consistency since the Premier League returned last month:

“City are now focusing on both the Champions League and FA Cup. They come into this match on the back of a win against Bournemouth in the Premier League, albeit with an under-par performance. However, they will undoubtedly have had half an eye on this fixture and should be full of confidence given that they’ve beaten Arsenal in their last seven meetings…”

“The Gunners will have been buoyed by their win against Liverpool last time out but with their form being somewhat inconsistent since the restart and with their recent poor record against the Citizens, I fancy City to win this one. I’m going for a 3-1 victory for Pep Guardiola’s men.”

Owen’s prediction seems to be a pretty fair one. The last game between the two sides at the Etihad saw the Gunners start the game well before falling away badly following the injury to Pablo Mari and the introduction of David Luiz.

The cup semi-final may follow a similar pattern in terms of how the game will develop. Arsenal may come out of the traps flying after their confidence boosting win midweek against Liverpool, pressing high up the pitch. However, as the match goes on, City will probably take control of proceedings and come out with a comfortable victory after 90 minutes.
