Erling Haaland has spent his first year as a Manchester City player torpedoing any pre-season predictions that he would need time to adapt to the rigours of English football.

The Norwegian is enjoying the most prolific season of his career as he fires City’s bid for a Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup treble.

On Wednesday, Haaland scored in a 3-0 win over West Ham to take his Premier League tally to 35 goals in 31 games, breaking the division’s single-season scoring record in the process.

Prior to the 1995/96 campaign, the Premier League season was 42 games. Haaland broke the 38-game season record when he surpassed Salah’s 32-goal haul against Arsenal on April 26.

Haaland’s total haul this season stands at 51 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions, including 12 in the Champions League.

The former Borussia Dortmund striker still has a chance to hit the 40-goal mark before the end of the campaign, with five games still to come.

He said: “It is unbelievable how many goals he has scored – so many important goals to help us win games. He is a unique person, as a player but also the person is special.
