Villarreal winger Arnaut Danjuma is in the same “category” as Kylian Mbappe, according to his agent Michael Jarman.
The likes of West Ham, Manchester United and Liverpool have all been linked with the Netherlands international in recent months but, while the player has begun to emerge as a talent on the world stage, Jarman says the player is happy to stay at Villarreal:
“Twelve months ago, he was in the Championship [with Bournemouth]. Now, he plays on the most important stage of club football, against the best teams. [His goal is now La] Liga, Champions [League] and [the] World Cup with Holland. Danjuma is one of the best talents of his generation. For me, he belongs to the category of Mbappe, but fate wanted us to know him only now.”
“For the future, everything is possible. In Italy, there are fantastic clubs and, obviously, Danjuma will want to win trophies in his career. But he is so happy at Villarreal and with Emery that nothing else matters at the moment.”
Danjuma is believed to have a €75m (£63m) release clause in his contract so if the Hammers, or another team, wanted to sign the Dutchman, Villarreal wouldn’t be able to stand in their way if they match the price.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says there are a number of English teams monitoring the 25-year-old so we shall see if David Moyes’ side make their move.
West Ham reportedly put a lot of money on the table for Leeds’ Raphinha during the January transfer window so they could do the same for Danjuma this summer.
