Chelsea have joined the likes of AC Milan and West Ham in the battle to sign Strasbourg defender Mohamed Simakan, according to reports in France.
It was claimed back in October that the Hammers had had two bids rejected for the 20-year-old, while the Rossoneri also had one offer knocked back for the centre-half.
At the time, West Ham’s highest bid was said to be in the region of €20m (£18m), which included €17m (£15m) upfront and €3m (£2.7m) in add-ons. However, a few months on, Strasbourg are thought to be open to selling for just €15m (£13.3m) with Chelsea now thought to be involved.
It is believed that the Blues have already contacted the Ligue One side regarding Simakan’s availability. Whether the Irons will re-enter the race for the Frenchman, it does seem unlikely at this stage, with reports suggesting David Moyes’ transfer budget is limited for the January transfer window.
