Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca has no intention of leaving Italy this summer, according to ExWHUemployee.

Writing on the West Ham Way Patreon, the insider claimed that the Hammers were interested in the Italian international but, after Arsenal had an offer turned down for the player, it is now very clear that the forward won’t be moving abroad:

“I asked around for confirmation of whether we had interest in Italian forward Gianluca Scamacca of Sassuolo The 23-year-old 6 foot 5 forward is someone the club is aware of but have been told the forward wants to remain in Italy. Arsenal have already seen a bid rejected for this reason.”

“The forward has already played for 6 clubs and wants to join a big Italian team to cement his place in the national squad having made his debut in September 2021. Top Italian teams are said to be in for him and a move to them is his preferred choice and he wasn’t our first choice target anyhow.”

As Ex says himself, Scamacca has never been a priority target for manager David Moyes. The three main options at the moment appear to be Chelsea’s Armando Broja, Watford’s Emmanuel Dennis and Clermont’s Mohamed Bayo.

Broja is the player, in particular, who plenty of fans would like the Hammers to pursue but it will be a challenge persuading Chelsea to sell the Albanian international.

Manager Thomas Tuchel has said that he wants the 20-year-old back for preseason so he can assess whether he should be part of his first-team plans. It will be hoped that the striker doesn’t make the grade and he is made available for transfer.
