Ex-West Ham striker Ian Wright is backing the Hammers to beat the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham and Wolves to finish fourth this season.
While Wright also talked up the chances of one of his other former teams, Arsenal, he says he is still backing West Ham to retain their current top four position right through until May:
“I’ll say West Ham are favourites because West Ham are right there.”
David Moyes’ side do have one thing in their favour, having the points on the board, but their rivals for the final Champions League spot all have games in hand over them.
Fifth-placed Arsenal have two matches over the Irons, United have one, Spurs have three while Wolves have two so it will be difficult to keep ahead of their rivals over the coming weeks.
Even so, there is a long way to go this campaign and, with every team dropping points on a regular basis, it appears that if West Ham can put a run together they could streak ahead of the pack.
