Arsenal Named As One of 4 PL Clubs Pursuing 30M Rated Brazilian Who Has Previously Turned Down Chelsea And West Ham

Arsenal are interested in signing Flamengo forward Gabriel Barbosa, according to 90min.com. The website reports that the Gunners are keen on recruiting the Brazilian in the January transfer window, along with Everton, Aston Villa and Newcastle.

The 25-year-old has previously rejected approaches from English teams, including Chelsea and West Ham, but the player is now keen on making his name in the Premier League.

Barbosa (or Gabigol as he is more widely known) has scored an impressive 29 goals in 41 appearances for Flamengo this season, helping them to the final of the Copa Libertadores.

However, he has struggled during spells in Europe before, having failed to impress during his time at Inter Milan or with Benfica on loan.

Gabigol is a more experienced player now, though, and Arsenal may feel he is worth taking a risk on. Flamengo are expected to demand around £30m for the striker in January so we shall see if the Gunners are tempted to make a move.
