Chelsea are reportedly weighing up a move for Ajax left-back Nicolas Tagliafico as they consider potential candidates to replace the injured Ben Chilwell.
The club have confirmed that the England international will undergo surgery on an ACL injury and he is likely to be out for the rest of the season.
Tagliafico was actually a target before the Blues signed Chilwell but, after losing his place in the Ajax first team, fans on Twitter are not convinced the Argentine would be the right signing:
Can’t start for Ajax anymore so it’s a big no for me. This isn’t 2019 anymore

We need a player who doesn’t need time to adapt to a new league. Emerson or Digne.

The defender has started just two league games for Ajax this campaign, with former Manchester United defender Daley Blind being preferred by manager Erik ten Hag, so he isn’t exactly in the best of form.
Chelsea are, however, thought to be looking at a number of different options to fill the gap left by Chilwell. Everton’s Lucas Digne is high on the list of targets but there is also the possibility that Emerson Palmieri or Ian Maatsen could be recalled from their loan spells.
