Chelsea and Manchester City have joined the likes of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich in pursuing Napoli forward Victor Osimhen, according to El Nacional.
The Catalan rumour mongers claim that the Nigerian international, who is “often compared to Romelu Lukaku”, could be available for around €80m (£67m).
Osimhen only joined Napoli for a similar figure in the summer of 2020 so we shall see how accurate that valuation is, but he is definitely a talent that clubs like the Blues will be keeping an eye on.
The 23-year-old had a difficult first season in Italy, after picking up a shoulder injury, but he finished the campaign strongly by scoring eight goals in 14 appearances.
That form continued into the current season, with nine goals in 14 games, before a fractured cheekbone sidelined Osimhen back in November.
Whether Chelsea will actually be on the lookout for a new forward next summer, it remains to be seen. Much will probably depend on Lukaku’s form.
