Chelsea are interested in Barcelona fullback Sergino Dest and could make an attempt to sign the 21-year-old on loan if they can’t recall Emerson from Lyon, according to Matt Law.
The journalist, who has good connections when it comes to the Blues, believes the American, who has been capped 15 times for his country, is on the club’s radar, and Barca would be prepared to let him leave this month:
“I definitely think there’s some interest around Sergino Dest still, who’d obviously could fulfil a couple of roles in the squad, and I’m told Barcelona would loan him out.”
Law claims that Chelsea’s priority remains Emerson but Lyon are reluctant to cut his loan short, despite the fact that the Italian international would be open to returning to Stamford Bridge.
Dest is the main backup option, but links to Paris Saint-Germain’s Layvin Kurzawa and Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic have been dismissed by Law.
It is believed that transfer activity at the London club is likely to heat up once the Premier League winter break begins following this weekend’s round of fixtures.
