Rangers striker Cedric Itten has joined newly-promoted Bundesliga outfit Greuther Furth on loan for the rest of the season.
The Light Blues do have the option of recalling the Swiss international in January but the German side can sign him permanently if he stays until the summer.
Supporters on Twitter weren’t quite sure what to make of the departure, considering Itten only joined from St Gallen for £2.7m in August last year:
Doubt if he will be back

Not sure how much football he’ll get at bundesliga level? Seems a bit of a weird one to me

Can’t see him in a rangers shirt again, once loaned out they never return

Get the chance every day in training, if he’s not doing the business there he doesn’t get on, simple

I’m quite shocked by that.

He won’t play for us again

Hopefully he goes there, does a cracking job and comes back stronger

Surprised as good cover for strikers.

We have enough there and not surprised he’s been loaned. Morelos, Roofe, Sakala and Defoe is enough for the season.

I honestly don’t think he’s suited to style of Gerrard and he’s not good enough. Only my humble view

Were Furth to take up their purchase clause, it has been reported that the Gers will make a small profit on the transfer so, considering Itten wouldn’t have played much if he stayed, it seems like a sensible decision to let him go.
Whether the 24-year-old will get the game time he requires in Germany, we shall have to wait and see. He didn’t really do a lot wrong in a Rangers shirt but there is simply too much competition up front.
