Former Rangers right-back Richard Foster has warned Aaron Ramsey that he is in for a rude awakening if he thinks he can settle in to Scottish football straight away.
The Welshman arrived at Ibrox lacking match fitness, and Foster claims that, after playing in both Italy and England, he will need to get up to speed with the game in Scotland:
“My worry is that he’s maybe coming to Scotland – because he hasn’t played a lot of games – he might not have the fitness. Scottish football is fast-paced and you need to be fit. He’s coming from Juventus, which is even slower than the English game, to Scotland.”
There is no doubt that Ramsey will need more minutes to get his match sharpness back but Foster is going a bit too far when he says the midfielder will need to get used to the pace of the Premiership.
He spent many years playing for Arsenal, and it shouldn’t be underestimated how difficult it is to play in the top flight in England.
Ramsey is a top-class footballer and, if he can stay fit for the rest of the season, manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst has a great option in his armoury to help the Bears secure title number 56.
