Rangers centre-back Connor Goldson’s future remains up in the air despite the fact that the Englishman’s contract at Ibrox expires in three months’ time.
The defender remains a firm fixture in the first team, but there appears to be no progress in talks over a new deal.
Supporters on Twitter were asked whether they would like to see Goldson stay beyond the end of the season, with opinions pretty much split down the middle:
Absolutely yes. Fans fail to appreciate what we have at times it’s sad. I 100% want him here beyond the season.

Think its time for a change..need to freshen up

I’m not overly bothered about him leaving. He’s a decent enough player but not as good as he thinks he is. I’d be happy enough for him to stay if he commits though.

Yes. He’s been a mainstay solid, reliable and above all doesn’t get injured. He’s a 7/10 player every game. Can Soutar or the other CB’s do that. Evidence says no.

Hes good but hes nowhere near as good as he thinks he is. If he wants bigger money then he can move to a smaller club in the championship or bottom bottom half of epl! Because thats the best he’ll get.

I’d prefer him to stay only one of the centre halfs who tries to organise when to push up and when to drop back th others don’t communicate enough

No. Harsh maybe, but for me he has some positives, long balls, headers but his defending positions are questionable

If he wants to be here, yes.
There’s been a level of inconsistency since July though that suggests his mind is now elsewhere/on his next move.

Not fussed about it, I’d probably have the Dutch lad Doekhi form Vitesse if we can persuade him to come .

If Goldson had continued on with his form from last season (where he helped the Gers concede just 13 goals in 38 matches) then there would be very little argument over whether he deserves a sizeable wage increase.
However, after some inconsistent performances this campaign, the decision is far less clear-cut. There is some speculation that qualifying for the Champions League group stages could affect Goldson’s decision.
Finances from the competition may help Rangers offer the type of contract that Goldson wants so we shall see how this situation develops.
