Peterborough forward Siriki Dembele was left out of the matchday squad as the Posh lost 3-0 to Luton Town in their opening game of the English Championship season.

The 24-year-old has less than a year left on his contract at London Road and he has been placed on the transfer list. It was believed that he would start the season in the first team in order to put himself in the shop window but manager Darren Ferguson has decided against playing him.

Dembele has been scouted by Rangers on a number of occasions, and he has also been linked with Old Firm rivals Celtic, as well as teams such as Fulham, Newcastle, Sheffield United, Bournemouth and Stoke City.

However, Peterborough Director of Football Barry Fry confirmed earlier this week that no club has so far made an offer for the player, leaving him effectively in limbo.

Will the Gers make a move for Dembele? It seems doubtful at the moment with manager Steven Gerrard having the likes of Alfredo Morelos, Kemar Roofe, Cedric Itten, Fashion Sakala and Jermain Defoe already available to him as potential forward options.
