Sheffield United midfielder John Lundstram was left out of the matchday squad for the Blades’ 3-2 defeat against Manchester United last night, prompting further speculation about the player’s future.

The 26-year-old is believed to be a Rangers target with clubs such as West Ham and Burnley having also taken a keen interest in the Englishman. His absence from the squad suggests that the midfielder will be sold next month.

Lundstram has rejected the Blades’ final contract offer and, with his current deal set to expire in the summer, it means he will be made available for transfer when the January transfer window opens.

His manager Chris Wilder has confirmed they have not received any enquiries for Lundstram but that will likely change over the coming weeks. Whether Steven Gerrard will look to make a move for the midfielder, we shall have to wait and see. The Gers boss already has a number of options at his disposal in the middle of the park.
