Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has said the Gunners squad haven’t even talked about the possibility of finishing in the Champions League places this season.

After Saturday’s win against Leicester, Mikel Arteta’s side find themselves just three points behind West Ham in fourth, and they are level on points with Manchester United. Asked whether there had been any discussion about the top four among the players, Ramsdale replied:

“No! We haven’t really had a discussion… we’ve got a young team and of course the aspirations are getting into the top four but first and foremost we have to keep this form going. As soon as we start getting ahead of ourselves, our form will drop at the first chance. It’s nice to be mentioned within that category but we’re still a work-in-progress. Form’s great at the moment but we know there’s a lot of work we have to continue doing.”

Considering how poorly Arsenal started the season with defeats to Brentford, Manchester City and Chelsea, the turnaround has been quite remarkable but, it must be said, we are only ten games into the campaign.

If the Gunners are still in touching distance of fourth after the winter break in February, then supporters may get a bit more excited about the prospect.

Ramsdale is completely right to say that the players should not get too far ahead of themselves. The focus should simply be on the next match against Watford on Sunday.
