Sky Sports pundit Graeme Souness has lavished praise on Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli following his excellent recent run of form.

The Brazilian has now bagged four goals and provided two assists in his last six league matches and Souness says that the 20-year-old possesses a rare ability:

“I like him, when I’ve seen him play, he looks lively. He’s dangerous, he’s quick, enthusiastic, he’s going to get goals. A young man, who will be a star in our football. Goalscorers like him are really hard to find.”

Martinelli has certainly demonstrated his massive potential in recent matches and the task for him now will be to kick on and perform consistently at a high level.

It looked like the Gunners had found some player when they snapped him up from Ituano for only £6m two and a half years ago. He made an instant impact but injuries and a loss of form led to the young forward spending long spells out of the team.

After being brought on as a substitute, and scoring, against Newcastle at the end of last month, Martinelli has looked like a man with something to prove. Hopefully, Souness is proven right about the player.
