BT Sport pundit Rio Ferdinand believes Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak would be a “good signing” for Arsenal if they do step up their interest in the Swedish international.
Reliable sources have confirmed that the Gunners are scouting the 22-year-old, who reportedly has a €90m (£75m) release clause, and Ferdinand says he was impressed with what he saw of the forward at Euro 2020:
“He will be a good signing. Another young talented player. He has done really well in the Euros for Sweden, I thought. He is a talented player, man.”
Isak has had a rather average season in front of goal so far, scoring only seven goals in 22 appearances for Real Sociedad. The Swede managed 17 in all competitions last campaign.
Arsenal are, however, said to be looking at other options. Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic has been regularly mentioned but the Serbian may not be a realistic target.
Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Lille’s Jonathan David and Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins are also thought to be on the club’s radar. We shall have to wait and see which one becomes the Gunners’ main priority.
