Arsenal are prepared to let left-back Nuno Tavares out on loan if a club also agrees to a purchase clause worth €40m (£34m), according to reports in the Italian media.
Atalanta are believed to be keen on taking the Portuguese defender but, despite the Gunners paying Benfica just £8m for the 22-year-old last year, they are now demanding a five-fold increase on their investment:
Most fans on Twitter were taken aback by the reported valuation, although some are glad that Arsenal aren’t willing to let Tavares go on the cheap:

There is also a possibility that Tavares will be allowed to leave the Emirates on loan this summer without there being an option to buy. The fullback struggled with consistency during his first season in England, and it may be the case that, if he can get regular game time elsewhere, he could iron out some of the kinks in his game and come back a better player next year.
