Barcelona president Joan Laporta would be “willing to pay” the €10m (£8.5m) needed to sign Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette in January, according to El Nacional.

The Catalan rumour mongers claim that the Gunners are resigned to losing the 30-year-old when his contract expires so they are keen to sell when the transfer window opens.

Barca are desperate to recruit a new forward, with Sergio Aguero sidelined for at least three months due to a heart condition, and they have made Lacazette their primary target.

The Frenchman has scored 68 goals in 179 appearances for Arsenal, but he feels his ambitions aren’t being met by the London club and he is looking to leave the Emirates for a new challenge.

While Barcelona aren’t exactly in a much better position currently, Lacazette would be given more game time by new head coach Xavi, and it is believed he would suit the La Liga side’s style of play due to his excellent technical ability. We shall see if a formal bid is made in the New Year.
