Ajax sporting director Marc Overmars says he would probably prefer to move back to Barcelona rather than return to Arsenal if he was given a choice about his next club.
There have been reports that Edu’s position as technical director is under threat after struggling to secure deals during the summer transfer window, and when asked about the prospect of moving to either the Gunners or Barca, Overmars replied:
“They’re both interesting. I think my family chooses Spain. That was nice living. I’ll stick to Barcelona myself.”
At the moment, it seems Edu is secure in his post anyway. Signings such as Aaron Ramsdale, Ben White, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Takehiro Tomiyasu all impressed in the 1-0 win over Norwich City yesterday but it will be a while before a definitive verdict can be delivered on whether they were the right purchases or not.
Despite his preference for Barcelona, Overmars is also seemingly open to a switch to the Emirates if the opportunity arose, so it is one to keep an eye on.
