Tottenham are now favourites to sign Arsenal target Marco Asensio, according to Calciomercato.com.
The Italian website claims that the Real Madrid winger’s decision to switch agents to Jorge Mendes has handed the advantage to Spurs, who have had regular dealings with the Portuguese in the past.
Asensio is out of contract at the end of next season, and Real are believed to be prepared to let the Spanish international leave for just €25m (£21m) this summer if he doesn’t sign an extension.
There is still a possibility that he will remain at the Bernabeu with Real having recently tabled an improved offer to the player, but Mendes’s involvement does complicate matters.
In addition to the Gunners and Tottenham, AC Milan are also said to be interested in Asensio but, if it comes down to money, a move to the Premier League is the likeliest possibility, with it looking like Antonio Conte’s side now have the edge.
