Paul Merson is expecting Arsenal to bounce back from their defeat to Manchester United with a narrow victory against Everton tomorrow evening.
The Sky Sports pundit has been disappointed with the Gunners’ performances against the big sides this season but he believes they won’t have as much trouble at Goodison Park:
“Arsenal were unlucky the other day, and I thought they missed too many chances against United. They need to come back and win this game – they’ve been beating the teams they should be beating this season, and I think they’ll be able to turn the screws on Everton.”
Merson has gone with a 2-1 win to Arsenal, which is a surprising close scoreline, considering that Everton looked so poor in their 4-1 defeat to rivals Liverpool on Wednesday.
Mikel Arteta’s side may not be up there with the very best teams in the league at the moment but they should be favourites heading into a match against a club who are very much in crisis.
Everton’s supporters could quickly turn on their own side and manager if things don’t go their way tomorrow and the Gunners need to be ready to pounce on what could be a very toxic atmosphere.
