Rangers midfielder Steven Davis maybe 35 years of age but last night’s performance in the 2-2 draw against Benfica shows he is far from finished.
The Northern Ireland international was excellent in possession throughout the match as well as making crucial interceptions when called upon. Supporters on Twitter praised the midfielder for his impact on the game:
Steven Davis the best player on the park for me? Yes. ?? Morelos and Kamara very very good. Full team was excellent again. What a position we are in.

Davis is as good as ever but some of our fans seem to say he is finished. His composure and his passing is above anyone else in our team

Davis will almost certainly get a new contract if he continues playing like he has done recently. Earlier this month, manager Steven Gerrard said he would sit down and discuss a new deal with the player at a later date, but performances like last night show he still has something to offer.
Of course, his game time will need to be managed and he won’t be able to start every week but, despite being in his mid-30s, he is one of the fittest players around having made 17 appearances in all competitions so far this campaign.
