FC Honka striker Juan Alegria has confirmed he is on the verge of moving to Rangers. The Colombian revealed that the deal is very close to being completed:
“Together with my family, we are studying and finalising details to transfer me to Rangers – a great team who are the best in Scotland and highly recognised in European football.”
Not much is known about Alegria, other than the fact that he was plucked from obscurity by Honka a few months ago and he was afforded some minutes on the pitch before the end of Finland’s top-flight season last month.
The 18-year-old must have impressed scouts with his brief cameo performances as it appears he will be moving Ibrox when the January transfer window opens.
Inevitable comparisons have already been made to Alfredo Morelos, considering he is also from Colombia and will be signed from a Finnish club. However, he is still untested in European football and the likelihood is he will either play for the development squad or be loaned out to get more first-team football for the second half of the season.
