Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz is “in the last six months” of his time at the Serie A side, according to Tuttomercatoweb.com.
The Italian website report that the Spanish international will not sign a contract extension and, with his current deal set to expire in 2023, he is likely to leave at the end of the season.
Arsenal, Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid are believed to be Ruiz’s four main suitors ahead of the summer transfer window.
Reports in the UK have suggested that the 25-year-old could be available for just £16m, but that figure grossly underestimates the player’s value.
While his contract situation means he will likely be sold for a reduced fee, Ruiz will still probably be offloaded for three or four times that amount. Whether that will put off the Gunners, it remains to be seen.
Mikel Arteta’s side were keen to strengthen their midfield options in January and there is no doubt they will be still looking to reinforce that area of the pitch when the campaign is over.
